Greater Chicago Food Depository 35th Annual CRE Award Winner “Redevelopment of the Year”

Congratulations to The Terminal Chicago for winning “Redevelopment of the Year” at the Greater Chicago Food Depository 35th Annual Commercial Real Estate Awards! This visionary adaptive reuse project successfully repurposed three historic industrial buildings in the heart of Chicago’s Humboldt Park Community, creating the city’s first horizontal urban campus of 250,000 SF spread over 6.9 acres. The Terminal has become the new innovation hub for Chicago’s DeepTech, QuantTech, Clean Energy, and Natural Science ecosystem.

The Greater Chicago Food Depository event brought together over 1,600 of Chicago’s top commercial real estate professionals to celebrate the 35th Annual Chicago Commercial Real Estate Awards and to support the Food Depository’s mission to end hunger in Chicago and Cook County.

“For 35 years, Chicago’s commercial real estate industry has shown up to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository,” said Kate Maehr, Greater Chicago Food Depository Executive Director and CEO. “Together we’ve weathered recessions, down turns, upheavals – and a global pandemic. And, if all those challenges weren’t enough, over the last 12 months, we navigated the headwinds of inflation and economic uncertainty that is severely challenging many of our neighbors to put food on the table.”

The event raised over $1.3 million, making it the Food Depository’s largest annual fundraiser. This awards dinner, presented by Associated Bank, is considered the top awards event of the year for Chicago’s commercial real estate industry. Despite the challenges faced by the community over the last year, the industry has continued to show up and support the Greater Chicago Food Depository’s important work.

We are proud to be part of The Terminal and its award-winning team. This project was led by the vision and partnership of Gary Pachuki, IBT Group LLC, and The Mansueto Office, alongside Cawley Commercial Real Estate’s Leasing Team, construction by ARCO/Murray, design by RATIO Design, branding from Mauge, and the extensive consultation team of MacRostie Historic Advisors LLC | A Ryan Company & Development Management Associates.
